How to Create a New Customer in Xero and Import to WMS

In this video, let's learn how to create a new customer in Xero and import it to WMS. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Create a New Customer in Xero

  1. Head to your Xero dashboard.

  2. Click on the Contacts tab in the navigation bar.

  3. Ensure that a group named Datapel Customers already exists. If it doesn't, create the group first.

  4. Select All Contacts. Here you can see a list of all your contacts that already exist in Xero.

  5. Click on the New Contact button in the top right corner to create a new contact.

  6. Enter the contact name in the Contact Name field.

  7. Go through the form and enter all the details you want to add for this contact such as phone number, email address, etc.

  8. Click on Save and Close to finish creating the contact in Xero.

Step 2: Assign the Contact to Datapel Customers Group

  1. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the contact's profile to open the options menu.

  2. Select Manage Groups and then select the Datapel Customers checkbox.

  3. Click Apply. This action is essential as it allows Datapel WMS to identify the contact type for this contact.

Step 3: Import the Contact to WMS

  1. Head back to WMS.

  2. Navigate to the Tools menu in the navigation bar and select Connect.

  3. Click on Replicate from Accounting.

  4. Click on the Express button to update records quickly.

  5. Once the replication process is complete, you can start searching for the customer you just created.

  6. Navigate to the Tools menu and select Find Contacts. The new contact is now in WMS.

That's it! You have successfully created a new customer in Xero and imported it to WMS.
