How to Partially Receive Stock & Create a Backorder

In this video, we will learn how to partially receive stock and create a backorder for the rest of the items. Follow the steps below:

Step-by-Step Guide

1. From the Receiving tab, double click on the purchase order to start receiving the stock.

2. Once on the Receive Stock screen, Click into the Quantity field and enter the amount of stock that has been received. In this case, we have ordered 10 units of this item but will only receive 5 units.

3. Once you've added the quantity, Click the 'Split Receive' button at the bottom of the screen.

4. This will create a backorder for the items that haven't been received yet and close out the original order with stock that has been received.

5. When we open the original purchase order, we can see that the quantity has been split into a different line and marked as "Received and Closed".

6. If we open the backorder, we can see that the PO reference number has been added to the Comments section.

7. Now, you can receive more stock when it comes in or split the order again if required.
